Constantly referred to as being "ahead of their time," Devo defined what the New Wave movement was all about. Artsy, ironic, poppy, silly, robot-like, and concerned with science and technology, the Ohio-based band's most culturally iconic moment came with the bizarrely futuristic video for "Whip It." Although Devo stopped recording when the 1990's descended, their distinct sound and attitude continues to influence bands as diverse as They Might Be Giants and The Beastie Boys. In addition, their fearless leader, Mark Mothersbaugh, has launched a successful career composing for television and film (see RUSHMORE for an example). WE'RE ALL DEVO contains several of their silly, highly original, futuristic videos, including "Freedom of Choice," "Whip It," and "Girl U Want," and features a cameo by Timothy Leary!
