Based on a true story from WWII--these men did their jobs! They practically knew that it was a suicide mission. Their country never gave up on them--those in power did their jobs as well, but most every landing zone they tried was just too hot/hostile to get the men in flight for home. This really proves that sometimes a job has to be done and you just might 'have to walk out' even from behind enemy lines--and not everyone will make it, but they will work together. Like John Wayne's Sands of Iwo Jima, this is hailed as one of the best war films made during the war--but, that's not hard, they had real actors in those days and didn't need all the special effects (I am only 30, but I prefer the old movies). This film is rarely shown and, having not seen it on TV in a while, I have tried for almost two years to get it. It's a rare one--and worth it!Read full review
I bought this movie for my trip to Vancouver. My conversion van still has a VHS player that still works. I guess I am too cheap but I haven't seen this movie.
