Recognizable names surface on Where the Girls Are...., such as the Shangri-Las, The Shirelles and The Toys (all three groups offer tracks with which I'm unfamiliar), but what I enjoy most about compilations of this nature is discovering tracks from relative unknowns who put down a superb track or two only to disappear into obscurity. Others pop up, however, that demonstrated enough promise to enjoy an album or a compilation, which brings me to Maxine Brown, Nella Dodds, Candy and The Kisses and The Teardrops, all of whom shine brightly on Where the Girls Are.... Delightful. No text. Fifteen-page booklet with artist info. Goldie & The Gingerbreads are featured on the cover. 30 tracks. 72:30.
