The very first time I saw this movie was on Starz. I then tried to keep up when it would be on again. When I saw that it was for sale at a very good price, I knew instantly I would buy it. It is a very good mystery-movie, and takes place in probably the 50's. There is a "murder"...missing ypung lady...a missing past for "the author".A very captavating story line that has you guessing along as the movie progresss, if I could find the book to read(if there is one) I would not hesitate to purchase it instantly.
This is an excellent vehicle for David Strathairn, the gifted and hard-working actor who *finally* gained recognition when he portrayed Edward R. Murrow. It's atmospheric and well-written, and interestingly directed with intriguing flashbacks. I've actually bought two copies through eBay, the second as a Christmas gift which was well received. I have found eBay a great way to catch up on Strathairn's previous work.
I had seen this movie and really enjoyed the way in which the story was told. I had it on VHS, before, but like we all know, they have a tendency to break down over time. So, I was extremely pleased when I was able to find again. I truly believe that someone should think about having this moving released in DVD; because it's just that good.
Great little mystery, highly under-rated. Mary McDonnell is, as usual, wonderful, and David Strathairn is both wonderful AND beautiful. Kind of a twist ending, but a good one. You'll enjoy this. Have fun!
