VERY solid tribute to Chicago Blues legend Hound Dog Taylor. The number of tracks is just right: there's enough music to sink your teeth into without being overwhelmed, and almost track is very tasty. Some are downright superb.
Although the Chicago style is evident, various other styles and approaches to The Blues are also applied to Hound Dog's material, making for some winsome variety.
Before buying this jewel I'd only heard Cub Koda's version of 'Take Five' - which, by the way, is FANTASTIC, and makes me so proud of Cub- he obviously made his name as a Rock'n'roller in Brownsville Station, but sounds like an authentic Chicago Bluesman here. I knew that Cub's offering alone would be worth the price of the album, so I wasn't worried, but to be honest I just expected an average Blues tribute overall, nothing special. I was in for a big surprise when I popped this baby into my CD player- it's HOT - better than a plate of BarBQ on a Saturday night! Highly recommended.
