"Whatever" is a good soundtrack that boasts songs that most soundtracks will never have. You have a combination of the The Pretenders, The Ramones, Patti Smith, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Cramps, The Jam, and even an old Bowie tune. There is also a song by Rush called "Tom Sawyer", which I thought was pretty cool although I'm not a Rush fan. For whatever else I left out, I apologize. I am sort of dissapointed because this soundtrack did not contain "Love is the Drug" from Roxy Music. I sort of wish that this movie contained more music because I'd be interested to hear what more it had to offer musically. The Cramp's tune "What's Inside A Girl" is funny and typical Cramps, but is actually one of my more favorite songs on here. This is one of those soundtracks that I was all excited to get because the music went so well with the movie, but the soundtrack alone kind of fell flat. In addition, some of the soundtrack tunes sound a little low quality and distant. You are better off to just obtain a list of the songs on this soundtrack and pull them from various recordings or download them to your Ipod yourself. For instance, The Pretenders song "Mystery Achievement" and several of the other songs sound very high quality. However when you get to the Bowie song "Janine" and the Ramones stuff, the quality of the tunes is hard to hear and not very good. I think they could have done better with this one.Read full review
