One of Doris Day's early Warner Brothers musicals, On Moonlight Bay paired her with frequent co-star Gordon Macrae. The film is notable for its depiction of small-town Americana (circa World War I), and for the ample number of tunes from the era, ably sung by the always engaging Day and Macrae. Leon Ames, Rosemary DeCamp, Billy Gray, and the very funny Mary Wickes lend ample support. The film was a box office hit and resulted in a sequel, By the Light of the Silvery Moon, equally successful.
