**SPOILERS** Quantum Leap may rely on the impossible idea of time travel to make the show work, but that isn't why we all love it. This is basically the last primetime over the air television show that had the old classic romance and respect for humanity. Most shows today are basically death cults such as breaking bad and sons of anarchy etc. This show holds a special place in my heart, much like that of a lot of the classic movies that were came out around the timeline of a lot of Quantum Leap's "leap years" and of course before it. The Quantum Leap pilot really captured a lot of americans' imaginations and emotions, was well recieved, and was widely viewed every week. The episode on this VHS is the pilot, so it obviously explains what happens to Dr. Sam Beckett (played by Scott Bakula [star trek]) when his quantum leap scientific experiment goes terribly wrong. He is transported back to 1956, and awakes as a test pilot next to a wife he has never met. He must then try to remember how he got there and how to get back to his own time. We are taken on a journey through sam's false life trapped in the past, as he meets classy and well meaning good ole' gals and pals in 1956, until he meets Al Calivichi (played by Dean Stockwell) who explains to them what he has to do in order to get back to his own life. This show's film stocks should be archived in some kind of protected underground labyrinth. Shows like this will probably never see the light of day. You should buy this copy and get a few on laserdisc and also the box set on DVD so you can help preserve the memory of this once much-talked-about show. I wish it never went off the air.Read full review
