You Can't Take It With You (1938) is a wonderful film by Frank Capra. It's Capracorn at its best, with a heartwarming story, memorable characters, and happily-ever-after ending. The cast is outstanding. Jean Arthur, Lionel Barrymore, Jimmy Stewart, and Edward Arnold star, with a host of great character actors in fun, supporting roles. Arnold plays the Wall Street banker whose son (Stewart) falls in love with his lovely secretary (Arthur). Arthur's family, led by patriarch Barrymore, is eccentric to the extreme. They pursue their hobbies and dreams and don't allow small things like income tax or business to invade their happiness. When Stewart proposes marriage, the two families meet, and plenty of friction and humor result. When people say, "They don't make movies like they used to," this is the type of film they are talking about. I highly recommend You Can't Take It With You to everyone.Read full review
You have to be a fan of Hollywood classic movies from the 30's and 40's. So movies from that era I love them. It is a comedy about upper class people getting involved with lower class but also teaches you how you don't need material things to be happy. If you have friends you are the richest man on earth.
