Very early rock and roll, the stuff before Frankie Avalon, Fabian and the "cute" boys took it over, was free and, at least for the time, wild. One of the best hard rock and roll groups then was Gene Vincent and his Blue Caps. Gene was the lead singer, and he carried a guitar but really didn't seem to play it. His voice was similar to Elvis, and he did a wonderful blues. The Blue Caps, though, were magnificent. Instrumentalists at that time did not get the recognition they deserved, and that's doubly tru for the Blue Caps. This CD has some of the best performances from their relatively short career. After all, they only had one big hit, and that was Be Bop A Lula. A blues. If you love early rock and roll, then this CD is for you.
Having the original 45's of some of these selections, and having been "there" when these "originals" were released new, I have a good ear for the original sound, versus many of the remakes and "second-cuts" of the recordings being released today and this CD is accurate 100% original and properly remastered digitally, without added gadgetry to enhance the recordings. This is a work of Art and truly recommended for Collectors and Music Enthusiasts. A Great CD!
