This book is one of the first (of Ray Bradbury) that I picked up and the great aspect of Bradbury is that his stories are accessible to anyone. Meaning, some deal with death while others are creepy, and he also writes some cute and funny stories as well. It is a series of stories written about the expeditions and inhabitants of Mars and the table of contents read like a journal: Jan. 1999, April 2003...etc. but can be read individually. There is one story about astronaunts that land and notice that Mars looks exactly like Earth: Trees, air, buildings...and so they wonder if they got sidetracked or something and then notice long-departed family members so they wonder: Is Mars heaven? I actually saw this story on TV performed by Hal Linden so I always have his likeness stamped into this story...lol Another one is "The Off-Season" and it is a story about the last settler on Mars--part of the the story backline--don't want to give it away: A couple with a hot dog stand and they come upon the 'last' martian...very funny story... Anyways, I highly recommend this book to any lover of sci-fi or great storytelling: Ray Bradbury is the MAN!!!Read full review
