I don't know exactly how old this film is, but I am guessing it is early 1970's vintage. The plot turns out to be exactly what you think it will be. Everyone uses the N-word every time they can. The master's son is a very handsome blonde guy who,of ocurse, loves the black slaves more than the white women, including his new wife. And she is a real mess. Cruelty throughout is pervasive and is probably an accurate characterization of the whole system of slavery. James Mason was one of the best actors of the l950's through 1970's because he never really played himself. His performance here as the Major Domo is quite good. Despite the hackneyed plot, performances of all the actors is excellent. I recommend it.
Love it

shows how cruel slavery was...now im not sure just how factual this movie is...but it's a good movie none the less...not for the kid's..rated "R" for sure...Ken Norton did an excellent performance as the mandingo slave.
My mother had this movie a couple of years ago. It got misplaced and i ordered another one for her. She said she has watched it several times before she goes to sleep. Me personally - - - i've never seen it but sounds like a really good movie.
I bought this product as I remember seeing it years ago and it stuck with me...it's a very powerful film. Mandingo is one of the few movies that tells the truth and you sit on the edge of your seat watching it. I have not found many movies like it.
