For those that played this on the Sega CD, you will be pleased to know the remake is just as good as the original. Some things were tweaked, but all of the things you love are still here: the cliche story, the awesome characters, the wonderful voice acting, and the same, turn based battle system of the original. Now defunct Working Designs made a great game here with plenty to see and do and well worth the effort to talk to everyone and take your time with the game. The voice acting is excellent, but the new option to turn the battle voices off may be the winner for some players, as they can get redundant, especially when battling the final boss! This game has just enough of a challenge for your average gamer while keeping the ones who are looking for a challenge intrigued with the bonus dungeon in the Epilogue. Go on an adventure to once again save the world of Lunar! And, for collectors, Working Designs has given you a treat! This game comes with 2 different disc art variants (Hiro, Ruby, Lucia variant is the more common, while Ronfar, Leo, and Lemina is much, much rarer!), a jeweled case that holds all 3 game discs and 1 Making-Of CD with interviews for both the American and US companies; a complete soundtrack with its own sleeve and a special "Omake" or "Extras" box that includes a paper map, a ton of character stand-ees, and a beautiful replica of Lucia's Pendant with it's very own pouch! And if all that wasn't enough, it is all housed in its own collectors packaging. Maybe if you're lucky, you'll even see Victor Ireland selling SIGNED copies! I highly reccomend this game to any RPG-lover! If you didn't play the Sega CD version, make it a mission to find the original if you loved this remake!Read full review
An absolutely stunning game. The original Lunar has been considered a classic since it was released on the Sega CD and the crown jewel of legendary publisher Working Designs. Against all odds they've managed to make a worthy sequel in Eternal Blue. Like the original Lunar it is full of colorful, memorable, and lovable characters with the world of Lunar acting as its own. As great as the original was Lunar 2 has several improvements working for it that in some ways actually make it the superior game. For one, it is a longer game and has more cut scenes. The battle system is more refined making encounters less tedious and each character has a greater variety or magic/skills that fit into the game well. even status based attacks are worth using, unlike every single other rpg in the world. Additionally there seems to be a greater variety of monsters to fight in general. Without spoiling it I must say that the story is at least on par with the original. If you're a "true believer" in the series I highly recommend dropping the huge chunk of change on the complete edition of the game. It includes a leather bound booklet, full map of the world, a brilliant soundtrack, a making of CD, mini card board stand ups of the characters and a full size pendant (an important in game item). All and all it feels more "complete" than fans of the Sega CD version will recognize and no one will be disappointed by this enthralling adventure. By far one of the best RPG's of the 32 bit generation. Funny, clever, engaging. Everything you'd want and more.Read full review
Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete is a wonderful RPG that was groundbreaking in it's day, with over an hour's worth of hand-drawn animation, spoken dialogue and an intricate-yet-user-friendly combat system. L2:EBC takes everything good from its predecessor, Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete, and improves upon it. While Lunar 1 was a fun but simple romp around the globe to find pieces of the legendary Dragon Armor, Lunar 2 is centered around its characters. The story of this second game leaves a greater impression on the player than the first and has the player feeling for the characters. If you can find a copy of this game and Lunar 1 with all the extra stuff they originally came with, go for it. These games came standard with 'making of' DVDs, soundtracks, and more goodies at a time when 'collector's editions' were fairly rare here in the US.Read full review
Here's a game that takes all the great things it's predecessor had and further improves them! Fans of the series will feel right at home with the traditional rpg gameplay. This game features exciting turn-based battles, nice anime cut-scenes, and an epic story rivaling the greatsest rpgs. The relationships between the characters (Hiro and Lucia) are in depth and really capture the human emotions. A tale of love and friendship, loyalty and betrayal, Lunar 2: Eternal Blue is a must have for any rpg fan!
I have collected the Lunar series for a while now and to be honest if you want an old school type of game this is the one for you. They masterfully combine Anime with game play and you really get the feeling like you know the characters with in. Lunar Silver Star Story got the game rolling and it didn't disappoint in any way and luckily Lunar Eternal Blue kept the same style and while the story was different kept you hooked to the good graphics and great story arch that lunar is famous for. If you buy this game be preparied for a great collectors item and a great game.
Lunar 2 is a follow-up to the original Lunar Silver Star Story Complete. Both games are enhanced versions of Game Arts RPGs that were relatively popular on the Sega CD. Like its predecessor, Lunar 2 plays like a classic turn-based RPG, only it has a lot more in the presentation department. Story is told through smooth Anime cut scenes, and plenty of voiced dialogue and a flavorful Working Designs translation is included. As this is a remake, the 2D graphics are not as flashy as those in games such as Valkyrie Profile or Legend of Mana. However, that aside, they are very crisp and colorful, and many bosses are large and well-drawn. Lunar 2 has a very user friendly interface as well, making buying an upgrade item from a store, selecting attacks, or using any item a snap. The music in the game, while not as memorable as the first game, is still pleasant. No doubt that Lunar 2 excels in terms of presentation. If only the rest of the game were as fun. Once you go through a few dungeons, the game's flaws become apparent. Battles tend to drone on as you spend too much time watching you and your enemy's animations. More so, battles soon become very monotonous, with little strategy really needed to win. As nice as the game story and presentation are, the battles are too high of a price to pay. Too many bland dungeons with plenty of encounters. In the end, there's only half a good game here.Read full review
Lunar 2 Eternal Blue is one hard RPG. If you are used to playing traditional final fanasy games, Lunar 2 might come as a shock to your system. It is one of the hardest RPG's that I have ever played (I've played alot). The differeces from Final Fantasy includes: Hard; more for adults(mature)games; very commical; it is more of an active time RPG. Overall this is a very sound RPG and it is a good change from the Final Fantasy Series. Go Lunar
Excellent game is the Lunar series, all is included in this box, but is an old game from Mega CD from 1993 converted to the PS1, the graphics like the Final Fantasy IV from Super NES, but the CG is spectacular. The box contain the Game Disc 1,2,3, THE MAKING OF Disc 4, MUSIC SOUNDTRACK; in The Omake box: the world map (Back of the map is like an poster of the Lucia and Hiro), Lucia pendant, and the character's mini stands. It is an item for the collectors of RPG.
Lunar 1 & 2 are my most favorite RPG games ever. Part 2 takes place several hundred years after the first. It's a magical adventure that allows you to bond with characters that are relatable and genuine. The battles are epic and the journey, the adventure are amazing.
