Product Information
Ace Barker is a successful boat salesman in a South Carolina fishing town; he is also a foul-mouthed racist with a past peppered with betrayal and sexual indiscretion. When he receives a phone call from an customer ostensibly in the market for a boat, it's not long before his past returns to haunt him; the man soon begins claiming to be his illegitimate son, and obviously holds a grudge against Ace. He launches a campaign to drive Ace crazy, setting up a corn dog stand outside his office so that he can keep tabs on him at all times, and methodically chipping away at the layers of Ace's bigotry and cowardice. Noble Willingham ( Hudsucker Proxy) delivers a staggeringly powerful performance as Ace in this tense, dark comedy of repression and redemption, tolerance and loyalty. As the only actor who speaks onscreen in the film, he actually manages to be a sympathetic character, creating a fascinating portrait of a man both haunted by what is held within his own soul and victimized by an exceptionally cruel tormentor.Product Key Features
