Cartoon Network's first ever Christmas themed collection of cartoons appears as CARTOON NETWORK CHRISTMAS YULETIDE FOLLIES, released in 2003. This is a wonderful sampling of the cartoons presented on the cable/satellite channel from years back. A great stocking stretcher for the whole family to enjoy. Appearing on this DVD are the episodes: 1)"Son of Nergal" (first seen on the originally titled Grim-Evil series that mutated into the Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy.) 2)"Fa-La-La-La Ed" (those three mismatched friends of the cul-de-sac show Ed, Edd, and Eddy.) 3) the Courage The Dog episode "The Nutcracker". 4) Dexter's Lab epi: "Snow Down". 5)The Powerpuff girls in "Ice Sore". And what would x-mas be, without (The sixth episode on this DVD): "A Johnny Bravo Christmas". 7) A Cow and Chicken episode titled "Me An'My Dog". And, finally two episodes of I Am Weasel: "I.R.'s 1st bike", and "Dessert Island" (Not a typo.) Of course, each episode in this collection involves snow, gift giving (no matter what time of year), assisting friends and the "True Meaning of Christmas", (including greed.) Even that ol' "North Pole sitter" Santa appears in a couple stories. Silliness and fresh comedy is to be expected in any and all of Cartoon Network's Noel collections. (This 1st collection leaning a bit more child appealing -- but adults should enjoy.) Again, it's refreshing to see these episodes in their entirety without commercial (or ad banner) interruption. The stories and animation seen in this DVD are top quality for the home screen. And featured are some celebrity voices. (I swear -- that's gotta be Michael Dorn (Star Trek's Worf) voicing Weasel. I better check the episode end credits more closely.) (Episode wise, I have my favorites in "Son of Nergal", and "Johnny Bravo Christmas". These were primarily why I purchased this collection.) One 'mystery', however, is never explained on this funny send up of the Christmas Holiday on DVD: On TV/satellite/cable programs WHY does it seem there is usually NO WEATHER on a show series -- except when it's Christmas -- and then its snowing everywhere? Enjoy this collection. Buy it. It should be a yuletime tradition in your household to enjoy every year (or sooner!) -- DougRead full review
I bought the DVD because my daughter is a big fan of all the cartoons contained on the DVD. She watches the Cartoon Network all the time. (No surprise there since she is 6 years old.) BUT since I usually watch them with her, I have also become a fan of some of the shows as well. I saw some of the episodes contained on the DVD on Cartoon Network and thought it would be cool to be able to see them over again when we wanted to. No disappointments here! All the episodes are pretty funny and some of them are really funny. So if you have kids, or are a kid at heart, check this DVD out. They also have other volumes of the Christmas episodes in addition to this one, so the fun doesn't stop here! Definitely recommend checking them out.
I’ve been looking for this episode for a long time. We love to watch it at Christmas
