This album seems to be quite collectable in the UK and as a result carries a high price tag, even second hand. I purchased this from America and obtained it at a more than decent price including the postage. Electric Warrior, is arguably T.Rex' finest work, including the hits 'Get it on' & 'Jeepster'. It's one of those albums that almost every track could have been a hit in its own right. Although it was released in 1971 and captures the spirit of that time, surprisingly, it still sounds fresh today and demonstrates that Bolan truely was ahead of his time. This version of the album includes several bonus tracks including: Raw Ramp, Hot Love, & King Of The Mountain Cometh - these are real treats as any T.Rex fan will tell you. What strikes you are the nuances & subtleties of Bolans guitar playing demonstated in tracks like 'Monolith' and 'Lean Woman Blues'. He was often regarded as a mediocre guitar player, but it's difficult to see why on the strength of this album. I bought this album because I wanted to add it to my collection and after all it is one of the all time greats. The final track on the album is a interview with Marc Bolan in which he gives a unique insight into his thoughts and feelings about the making of the album. I would highly recommend this album to anyone who is interested in music.Read full review
THANK YOU, MARC BOLAN. the incredible mix of rockabilly, soul, funk, and glam on this cd is nothing short of some of the most inspiring music ive ever heard. Marc Bolan is truly one of the most under-rated songwriters and guitar players of all time. Being a guitar player myself, i have over-analyzed this entire cd and many other t-rex releases. With every cd i become more and more fascinated with this music. The early acoustic material is beautiful and reminds me of being a kid again. The later funky/punky years proves what a huge scope marc had as an artist and that he can pull-off just about any style and not have the product sound forced at all(he was a total natural: performer/artist/otherwise). The classic early electric years speak for themselves as that is the most well-known period of marcs creative output. Marc Bolan could have been anything and would have been everything had his life not been cut short. ANYTHING MARC/ T-REX IS WORTH A LISTEN. IF YOU THINK YOUVE RUN OUT OF AWESOME ROCK N' ROLL MUSIC TO FIND AND ABSORB(as i once did)THEN I URGE YOU TO AT LEAST GET ONE OF THE T-REX HITS CDS AND SEE HOW IT FITS. T-REX HAS SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE.Read full review
I love this album. Has a few #1 hits, and all the songs are really good. The guitar work is stunning. The sounds he got out of a Les Paul, WOW. You have to remember this was back in 1971 '72. I love to crank this on through my 200 watt Marshall stack. The stomping on 'Jeepster', the solo on 'Life's a Gas', the screaming on 'Rip off', the lyrics to 'Get it on', All classic glam at it's best. Worth buying for the Cover Art alone!
Good album, not great as most reviewers have it the bonus tracks add a little to the disc.
