Used it for a class. The book was pretty much an easy read. The only problem I had with it was that the paragraphs where really lengthy and I didn't like the format that much - wish it had chapter reviews at the end, just to recap. The material itself is enjoyable. I like how they included the life stories of the psychologists and stuff outside of their theories, which kind of gave insight more to why they ended up in their relative fields. Overall I think it was a great book and would definitely recommend it to everyone. Especially if you're a psychology major, it's useful to have it handy. You need to know old theories to come up with new ones! I think this one is a better value for the price than the newer or older versions - the older one (2001 I think) isn't as concise, whereas the new one (6th ed) is just too pricy and not much has been changed in it.Read full review

History doesn't change. What has taken place ultimately results in the interpretation by the writer. This is one of the better books covering the History of Psychology. It is an acceptable book, but like any book it has to be taken with a grain of salt as to the interpretation. In Psychology you question and investigate to come to your own conclusions on historical matters.
I didn't really read the whole thing as I never actually took the class and therefore did not use the book, but from what I have read of the book and from the intro it seems to be an easy read.. Jon Bush
