This VHS showed Jim at the height of his charismatic best! The Lizard King weaves his poetry into and around the songs with ethreal and enigmatic excellence! The "Young Lion" roars loudly, desperate to be heard outside of his own head. Dionysian and Oedipal messages are subtle, in the true style of the "DOORS" music. The images are vivid and try to convey the music's message to us as each scene rolls by. One of the best "Music Videos" ever made for it's time, and it perfectly portays Jim Morrison and the many facets of his personality and mind. He was truely a tormented soul with a genius mind, well ahead of his time. If he were born at any other time, he most probaby would not have appeared so. I know that James Douglas Morrison, Poet, would probably turn over in his grave if he heard me say this, but he is truly the "Grandfather" model of all modern Rock-N-Roll idols!! He pushed the limits just to see what would happen, and in his rebellion, turned out to be almost as famous as "Jesus" to his fans. and in my mind, MORE famous than Elvis! (Who didn't want, and couldn't handle, STARDOM either!) To his credit: his poetry is awesome and gives us a peek into what goes on in the head of a person suffering from BiPolar Disorder and issues with person's in authority. Even 37 years afer his death, he is bigger than life itself! There has never been, nor shall there probably ever be, another man like Jim Morrison!! All-in-all...an excellent video that should be included in any "DOORS" fan's collection!!Read full review
I enjoyed watching this tape, which includes clips from the Doors' TV appearances, an early music video and concert footage. It was a great trip down memory lane!
