I thought this was a great classic Suspense/Thriller movie. The story is about an aging actress obsessed with the memory of her dead son who terrorizes his fiance in this classic thriller! A young American girl, Pat Carrol (Stefanie Powers) travels to a quiet British village to visit Mrs. Trefoile (Tallulah Bankhead), the mother of her former lover Stephen, who died in a car crash. Soon after she arrives, Pat realizes that Mrs. Trefoile is quite insane. Pat is imprisoned by Mrs. Trefoile-held hostage in a locked room, beaten and threatened with a gun. Pat realizes that her capture was pre-meditated with a specific purpose in mind: her Bible bearing captor intends to "cleanse" Pat in a bizarre and deadly rite so that she will be fit to wed her deceased son when they meet again in heaven!!! A classic Suspense/Thriller movie that is well worth watching!!!Read full review
This is a great, old movie from the '60s! I saw it way back when, & I enjoyed it just as much now, as I did then. No brilliant special effects, just a good, believable movie. They don't make them like this anymore!
This is an oldie but goodie. If you like suspence in a movie this is one you will like as much as we do. The acting is pretty good, some of the oldies show how immature the actors are. I would definitly say this one is a keeper.
excellent acting! Donald Sutherland's early career and Stephanie Powers acting is really convincing, Talulu's acting is perfect as usual
Saw this movie years ago talluah at her best a terrific movie that shows new hollywood is absolutely worthless
