Geist is one of those hidden first-party gems created by Nintendo. It is in fact very good at doing what it is trying to achieve: exploration and puzzle solving in a horror-like game. The exploration grants you with tokens that unlock new modes in the multiplayer and it also lets you upgrade your health. The puzzle solving is probably its biggest aspect. I first thought it would be weird for a horror game to incorporate puzzle elements and I was surprised. You cannot just possess anyone at will you must first scare them in some way and then you can proceed. The puzzles incorporate different aspects of the possession ability which are then explored to the fullest.

I had decided to buy this product because....well, I just had beat all of my other games. When I told my friend I was looking to buy, he recommended a couple titles to me, and Geist was one of them. I saw the high ratings, and decided to purchase it. I loved the game!! It was so much fun. you can posess almost everything. It has a satisfing storyline, and amazing gameplay. The only thing I didn't like was that I think that they skimped on the final battle. Other than that, Geist gets praise from me!!
Geist didn't make the biggest sales splash when it released, but it is a unique and enjoyable game. It's game mechanics and central gimmick make it a cut above the usual FPS fare of the time.

I like the game because it is an intellectual game with puzzles to solve. If it weren't for possessing people and animals or blasting them with a machine gun, I would not have bought it. The story line is slow sometimes especially when you can not figure out where to go next but the game keeps you hooked. The only downside I have found is that you can not vary from the objective and complete the stage another way. The game has a way of conforming you to complete it the way it wants you to.
This is definitely a hidden gem among gamecube exclusive titles. Most of the game magazines gave this game some mediocre reviews, but believe me it is alot better than that. The whole premise of spooking someone, and then possessing them may sound hokey, but the game developers did a great job with this mechanic! possesing everything from people, gun turretts, and dogs is a blast! GREAT GAME!!
