I think maybe the pressure was starting to get to them, after all, they had created two masterpieces practically back to back and now they were expected to produce a third. That may have had something to do with why it took a whole year for them to complete this album and maybe even why Bjorn and Agnetha divorced. Either way, it was finally completed and unfortunately it was not a masterpiece. Though, fortunately it is a good album. I’m not sure it’s a really good album, but it is definitely good. The problem may be that there are not enough ballades or mid tempo numbers. The whole album seems to go from one up beat dance track to another without ever slowing down. That may sound like a good thing, but it really isn’t. You need something to break up the monotony form time to time. Not only that, but ABBA seems to have lost their distinctive sound on this album, the sound that was so uniquely ABBA on their past two albums. However, the album is good in that most of the songs are memorable and fun, but are probably better off as individual singles than as part of an overall album.Read full review
