The Covenant is attacking earth and Master Chief must come to the rescue before they completely wipe out humanity and take over the planet. Fight alone or with a collection of friends in this game to save the planet from a gruesome demise. The Halo 2 Xbox 360 game begins where the original left off. The primary character is still Master Chief and the aliens are back and stronger than before. Play in single-player mode or with a group of friends in split-screen or system-link modes. Published by Microsoft with a release date of 2004 and created by Bungie, this game is the successor to Halo: Combat Evolved. Created to take full advantage of Xbox hardware at the time of its release date, this game is compatible with the Xbox 360. Microsoft and Bungie took everything from the original and gave it a different spin in this exciting action game for the Xbox 360. The familiar base shooting mechanics are present but refined to an impressive level of accuracy and realism. There are more guns, more bad guys, more explosions, and more vehicles, including the introduction of the massive rolling artillery piece, the Scorpion heavy tank. Gameplay in Halo 2 will find the player running, jumping, shooting, and lobbing grenades on the road to defeat the religious zealots of the Covenant. These zealots are trying to wreak vengeance for the destruction of one of their holy relics, the Halo Ring. An epic and well-written storyline takes the player from the outer reaches of alien space to the familiar comfort of Earth as they battle for their home planet's survival. New friends and enemies are met along the way, including a new playable character in the form of The Arbiter. The story rushes towards its conclusion at a break-neck pace, inevitably heading towards the Covenant's ultimate secret in a big reveal that will expose the Covenant's most fatal flaw. A well-developed graphics engine makes every cutscene vibrant and real, every bullet land just a little too close for comfort, and every explosion seem just one missed step away from disaster. Intricate textures, lighting, and detailed rendering create a beautiful and exciting Halo world on the Xbox 360. The graphics of this game push the Xbox hardware to its limits. Friend and foe alike come to life in this high-powered title. Players will be dazzled at just how well the graphics accentuate the action. This second installment in the Halo collection features great gameplay and graphics. At the time Halo 2 was released, the multiplayer action was mind-blowing. You can compete with your friends at home and work to complete the campaign via split-screen and LAN play. Fight with your friends in a variety of fun match modes, including Capture-The-Flag, Slayer, Team-Slayer, and many more. Relive the polished and enjoyable experience that helped turn online multiplayer in console video games into what it is today. The second installment of the Halo collection captures all of the excitement of its predecessor and sets up all the right pieces for combat and entertainment. With this game, you can experience a high-level Xbox console first-person shooter.
Yeah this is a good game, its fun - but its definitely not a classic. Though, I'll probably have thousands of angry Halo fans (13 year olds) emailing me telling me how crazy I am.
I will say this, the graphics are very smooth. The game creators are amazing with their creativity, using vehicles, new weapons, and futurisitic ideas. The gameplay is tight and efficient.
The reason that this game did not receive 5 out of 5 is because of online play. The game tends to lag occasionally (and I have a great connection), and some online players use tricks like disconnecting their system and replugging it in to jump to somewhere else on the screen. Also, the fast play is exciting, but is a waste of time if you are looking for something that incorporates any strategy. Basically, its running around and shooting and being shot, with no idea of why you are doing things.
For kids under 18, this is a great game. The violence is futuristic and something that really cannot be incorporated into our own world. So don't worry about your kids carjacking your vehicle and attempting to run down people. What you can expect, is that they will be glued to the television for hours to come.

Halo 2 is a very fun game. It is different from the first Halo though. You can use duel weapons like with pistols or needlers. There are also many new cool vehicles. In the first Halo the pistol was the ultimate weapon. In Halo 2 the pistol is about as good as the plasma pistol. There are many new maps for Halo 2, Coagulation, a varient of Blood Gulch from Halo 1 is bigger with different places you can hide. Matchmaking is a great feature, between getting ranked and than being able to play with friends in intense competition. Overall I like the game. But if you are into computer games Battlefield 2 is the best game I have played ever for a shooter.
I have to admit, this is one of the best fps to hit the stores and introduced to the fps world revolutionary ideas and cool new features. It is an excellent game, graphics wise and gameplay wise and it is well worth the buy. However, there are tiny things that ended up a bit disapointing. But only a tiny bit. I rate this game 4/5 but that's because they wouldn't let me rate it 4.4.
I'll go over the good stuff first: I know it sounds silly to say this but ability to dual wield certain weapons makes this game superior to its prequel. The grenade raidus and effect is fixed. The rocket launcher has a homing capability. New vehicles, esp. the Ghost make this game a lot more fun. The graphics with sniper rifle when not in zoom is incredibly awesome. You can now play as elites in multiplayer. You can now take on tanks and vehicles without a rocket launcher either by hijacking it or attacking it barehanded. The new shield system instead of the worthless health pack system makes this game a lot smoother.
Now onto the bad.
Single player sucks. The story is convoluted and when you finish it, it feels totally incomplete and so incomplete in fact that the idea of a sequel to this story doesn't sound that exciting. The idea of being able to play as an elite was a good one, but they didn't present it well. And then.. the Flood. When it came out for Halo 1, the Flood was interesting and scary and unique. On this game, they're just bothersome and annoying as hell. Having to kill millions and millions of Flood in a terribly dark room with limited ammo is simply pointless and boring.
Some weapons just suck in multiplayer. The brute plasma rifle for example. It fires faster than the elite plasma rifle sure but it overheats way too quickly and it doesn't do that much damage. The carbine also sucks and the brute shot is way too wayward to strike an accurate shot. Some vehicles like the Covenant transport vehicle should never have been invented because they suck.
Energy sword glitches. I hate them. It's why I avoid swords only matches.
That's really all the bad things I can think of, which shows you how good this game really is. This game is what makes XBox a worthy console and it's what every fps should learn about multiplayer gaming. I mean, playing "zombie" with 16 players on the map Zanzibar... that's pure gaming fun.Read full review
Some Might Disagree, but listen why I give it only a 4.
I loved Halo. It is one of my all time Favorite games.
Halo 2 adds Dual Wielding Weapons, Cool.
Halo 2 adds Vehicle HiJacking, Cool.
Halo 2 adds Online MultiPlayer, Cool for Most, but not my Bag.
My 2 Biggest Problems with Halo2 are;
1) The Story in my opinion is stupid. It also becomes hard to follow because for a few levels at a time you are a different main character. By the Time I got back to being Master Chief I was like... Ummm Where was I...
2) Some of the Levels are so Stinking Dark. My son and I play alot of these games in Co-Op, We have a 54" TV so the TV is not the Problem. Like Halo, Halo2 has some daytime and some Nighttime Levels. However, some of the Levels are Very Dark and Laid out Poorly. Many times during Halo2 either myself or my son would kill ourselves on purpose because we could not find our way to each other.
If your into the Multiplayer Online you would probably bump this up to a 5.
But if your more into the Single Player and Co-Op, I would recommend this game.
I just don't think it is as good as Halo1 so I give it a 4 instead of 5.Read full review
Halo 2 has been an XBOX platform favorite for quite a while now. Even though the third and final installment to the Halo series has already been released, Halo 2 is one game every Halo-fan should own. There are tons of new features that the original Halo game did not have, as well as XBOX LIVE capabilities. There are also a couple custom games and settings that Halo 2 has that Halo 3 does not. This game can be played on XBOX or XBOX 360 consoles, so its a must have.
