Boy's Town - Spencer Tracy - Mickey Rooney - 1938 Based on the story of the real Boys Town in Nebraska this 1938 classic stars Spencer Tracy as Father Flanagan. He is the founder of a home for wayward and underprivileged youth. Of course Mickey Rooney plays one of Father Flanagan's more challenging cases,Whitey Marsh. As depicted in the film, the real Boys Town suffered many financial troubles having to beg for donations to be able to pay off loans, but the movie was a great boost to the work & after this film's success, the real Boys Town had no further financial difficulties. This movie was nominated for 5 academy awards. Tracy won best actor & gave his Oscar statue to the "real" Boys Town. The famous line, "He aint heavy,he's my brother" came from this classic movie. Kid friendly movie, nice for the whole family. Enjoy!!Read full review

They just can't make films like this anymore. I enjoyed it thoroughly! If anyone else out there has any old VHS films in great shape at a fair price, let me know.
Living in West Texas, Boy's Town is something one hears of quite a lot. Decided to get this movie so I could learn about the beginning of Boy's Town. Good movie. Spencer Tracey is in top form as well as Mickey Rooney.
