I've read several of Brian Jacques's books in the Red Wall series, but this one is my favorite. It follows the progress of a young hare who was born to privilege, but only desired to be part of the heroic Long Patrol. With the help of his mother and a new friend he escapes his father, and destiny carries him in the right directions. This is often classified as a "children's" story, but how can adults not enjoy the battles, budding romance, and outright loyality that make this book such a wonderful thing?
