The wonderful Diana rig and the masterful Oliver Reed in a wonderful adventure comedy with a little bit of dark humor thrown in for good measure. It is rather difficult to explain the delicious plot in this film. It does not really matter whether this film is faithful to the original book. No film is ever faithful to the original book. It is the characters in this movie that make everything work beyond the chemistry. The people are beautiful, the costumes are beautiful, and the adventure is equally fun! The movie is sexy and suspenseful. The cinematography and the scenery and locations are truly fantastic. I only wish it became available on Blu-ray. one of these days?

". . You name it. We have it." So went the poster tagline, and so the movie delivers. It ALSO has Diana Rigg and Oliver Reed, at the peak of his talents, flirting their way through an outrageous Victorian romp. It's all based on Jack London's last novel, which accounts for the sharp satire on political violence that lies just below the froth and frills. A forgotten gem from the sixties, recommended for all fans of Alan Moore's 'League of Extraordinary Gentlemen' (The movie should have been like this) and 'Steampunk' period SF.
This movie is clever, original and very funny. If none of that interests you, then the lovely Diana Rigg, fresh from her role as (the original) Emma Peele will. I rate it as good only because excellent is limited to VERY few.
One of our families favorites, we watch it whenever it is on. It is nice to actually see some witty banter in a movie. If you are a fan of the Avengers and 60's spy flicks, you will enjoy The Assasination Bureau.
