Rather boring at first. Toward the end when the shootin' started...it got more lively. Lots of Mexican troops, cannon, weapons of war, and at times gory. Thought Wayne could have done a better job of acting and directing....Oh well....guess lots of people really liked it...56 years ago.

The main I reason I purchased the VHS of "The Alamo"is as mentioned by the other reviewer this is the only directors cut to be had [ I don't have a laser disc player, the other uncut version }. Sadly, there are missing pieces of the film and some have deteriorated, so there may never be a "Directors Cut" on DVD. I saw the film 3 days after it opened in Times Square N.Y. on a reserved seat showing and wanted to see that film once again. It has its flaws and a Hollywood version of facts, its still a labor of love for Wayne { even if he does get a little preachy at times} I still enjoy this version...
The best story about the Alamo on film.
