I don't know if the title fits the movie but a great movie in any case!
I love this movie as you cheer for Emma Thompsons character when she gets the one she loves so dearly. I love Marianne's strong character, I cry when Elinor cries Alan Rickman was a sweetheart!
Sense and Sesibility is a strong favorite of Jane Austen readers. This does justice to the book and sends film buffs off to read it.
The Emma Thompson/Alan Rickman casting really makes this film so legendary. It was amazing to see the effort of other cast members to match their period portrayals and the settings were mesmerizing. Escape to another era and want everyone to find happiness.
This is one of my all-time favorite Jane Austen film adaptations. Alan Rickman as Colonel Brandon is perfection. The casting is so good, and there's so much feeling and wit in the script. I really believe that Jane Austen would wholeheartedly approve of this movie.
Great version of Austen's classic, with wonderful acting, esp by Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet. Thompson's screenplay won a well-deserved Oscar! Directed by Ang Lee with wonderful cinematography, too. A winner.
Being an avid Jane Austen fan, having a screen adaptation live up to her book is a rare treat! Emma Thompson does an outstanding job as the eldest daughter, Elinor. The entire movie is well done. If you love Jane Austen, you'll love this movie.
