  • A great documentary about German's most (in)-famous female filmmaker.

The recent documentary about the fascinating life of the late Leni Riefenstahl was both entertaining and informative. The production is divided into two parts, one a profile of her early life acting in German mountaineering films, then later the propaganda films under the Reich. The second part chronicles her later involvement, from the mid 1950's through the early 90's, filming and creating ethnographic records with still photography, of numerous indigenous African tribal peoples, mostly in South Sudan, and generally in eastern Africa. The result was the voluminous publication of photographic art books that somewhat rehabilitated her reputation from collaborating with the Nazi's.

  • This was an odd one.

I read about this DVD story in an old magazine and curiously looked it up. I will be danged if I didn't find it! I watched it once and it is from sooo long ago in life that I probably won't watch it again. It was interesting though.

  • An unusual and fascinating piece of history.

A German documentary about a great, if misguided, artist and filmmaker. She is 90 years old at the time of filming, but she moves and speaks so fluidly and her story is so compelling that one hardly notices her age.

  • She became anti-Hitler but allowed to film the 3rd Reich!

She was so professional in her work that even Hitler i believe respected her!
