I read this book when it was first released and I am still recommending it to my friends. Nancy Pearcey's explanation of how our definitions of truth have changed over the years is the best I have read. Before I read her book I did not understand how politicians who claimed to be followers of Jesus in their personal lives could consistently vote like an atheist. Nancy makes it so clear and my purpose here is not to explain it so you don't have to read the book. But one of her main points early on in her book is how truth has been relegated to 'values'. Where absolute truth would have to apply to all situations and all people, values are choices that individuals can make for themselves. Well, read the book, you will keep this one for reference for years to come. Some will want to read the entire book and I certainly found it worth the time, but I expect many will just read the first half and be satisfied. The book is worth it even if you only read the first few chapters. If you feel you do not understand how and why our young people today think the way they do, then I highly recommend this book to you. I think all Christians will benefit from it, but non-Christians I think can gain understanding about our world today from this book, as Nancy Pearcey documents well historically, how changes in the way our society thinks have occurred gradually in the last 40 years. I hope you enjoy it. You can download Nancy's study guide for this book at her website: http://www.pearceyreport.com/TotalTruthStudyGuide.pdfRead full review
Nancy Pearcy captures the essence of living "in the world" but not being "of the world." She explains the importance of applying Biblical principles to all areas of life and all academic disciplines. I enjoyed this book as it challenged me to have coplete faith in God's Word as the Ultimate, reliable source of all wisdom and knowledge. The language she uses is very understandable and not too philosophically strange. Overall, this book was a great purchase and I encourage all belivers who seek to develop evagelistic strategies and grow in their walk with the Lord, to get this book and take time to read it!
The first 8 chapters are a must read for all Christians. Pearcey points out the dualism of Christians today and also the concessions that Christians are making to the world. She covers it all--religion, politics, education, the economy, etc. Her writing style is written to the educated populace so it's a difficult read at times, but well worth the effort.
Our son requested This book...it was recommended to him by his church family in Korea

This book is a must read. In the day where truth is neglected and denied, this book helps to clarify where our nation is going and what needs to change.
