My 3 yr old son loves this book. He thinks it is silly that the little pea wouldn't like candy for supper, but Little Pea would love spinach for dessert. The book has two pages explaining what type of candy Little Pea eats each day of the week, so children can learn the days of the week. There are also a few pages where Little Pea has to eat five pieces of candy before getting dessert. Little Pea says "yuck," "blech," etc. My son just laughs hearing us read those icky food sounds. Overall a fun, silly book that parents can also laugh at, since we can relate to negotiating with our kids to eat their supper! :)
"Little Pea" by Amy Krouse Rosenthal is a delightful book aimed at any little kid who resists eating his or her vegetables (~18 mo to 4yrs). Little Pea is a happy little pea who has a good life, but there is one thing he dreads at suppertime: candy. To grow up big and strong, little peas have to eat candy. The five pages dedicated to Little Pea's facial expressions and quiet noises as he chokes down his five pieces of candy will be familiar to most parents and will crack up the listener when read with gusto. Needless to say, the illustrations, though simple, are masterful at capturing facial expressions. The book instantly became a hit with our 3 year old and we have passed out several copies to friends and family with similarly positive feedback.
great children's book

I would have gave it 5 stars but there was a little tear in one of the pages. Other than that it’s a cute book for kids and worth the $4.
