High quality and effective RO filter
RO filters are pretty much commodity items anymore. They all seem to come from China, use more or less the same components, and do pretty much the same thing. The Bluonics unit includes some higher-end features, including a steel 3gal storage tank, clear filter housings, a simple-to-use flush system, easy to use Push-Fit Fittings, and an attractive faucet that sets it a notch above the others.
Regarding the faucet, some municipalities, at least here in California, require an air-gap in the discharge line on its way to the drain. This is commonly implemented in other systems in the faucet base. This system does not include any provisions for an air-gap, so be advised.
The system installed quickly and easily with no leaks, though admittedly I've installed many RO systems in the past, and this was replacing an older unit. As such I was able to skip several of the most complicated steps including setting up the water feed valve, drilling the sink for the faucet, and drilling the drain fitting. So it was easy for me to forgive the relatively sparse instructions that are included. Using my own TDS meter, I was able to confirm that the system reduced the dissolved solids from my municipal water by over 90%. The auto-shutoff valve stops the system from constantly flushing waste water down the drain. Still, assume that for every gallon of RO produced, this (and most any other) RO system will flush 2-3 gallons down the drain.
I contacted the seller with some questions, and I was very impressed with the helpful, knowledgeable support I received over the phone.
