Works for training but it's expensive.
Despite the expense, I bit the bullet because other training approaches to "no" weren't working. I found it on sale & bought the system & it works. It scares them when they jump up on places they aren't supposed to be & after a couple of scares, they don't jump up there anymore. I don't like scaring them, but it's more like startling them than anything. They just don't want to be startled again, so they avoid the place they were startled before. So, it works. And it only took a few sprays until they learned. We've triggered it more than they have because we forget we've armed it . . . or it triggers when we arm it . . . but, it works. No smell. No mess. Doesn't work for very furry animals.
I have a very furry cat. Apparently, the fur insulates her so well, the PIR sensor can't detect when she goes past the sensor. It never sprays her. I've tested with my hand and it works great, but the cat is invisible.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Expensive but very effective
Excellent training tool. Pretty much works the first time my cat sets it off. I have not had any problems with him getting on my countertop since. Cons: Expensive for what it is, sometimes goes off 20 secs after placing and turning on for no reason, then seems to work correctly. If the cans of compressed air were cheaper I would not complain, but every time it goes off for no apparent reason I think of the 50 cents that was just wasted. It really works!
I am using this product to keep curious raccoons off my porch and out of my potted plants. They are deterred by the forceful spray of air. The old models of this type of deterrent used to have 2 settings to make a high pitched sound and then spray the air OR just make the sound. I liked them better b/c once they got used to hearing the sound, they would run--and you wouldn't have to pay for so much compressed air. Just remember, no matter what type of animal you want to deter, it may take them 2-3 weeks to REALLY get the message--but id DOES work.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Works great but VERY expensive
This type of sensor and spray seems to work the best when trying to keep my 2 cats off the table. But you need to have a bunch of them to work on counter tops and other places around the house. The sensor distance is around 3 feet (stated in the instructions). But you have to be careful NOT to situate it in such a way that your cat will get sprayed in the face. You can turn the sensor so that the spray is pointing about 45 degrees from it. Put the can at the edge of a table or counter top so the spray is spraying OFF the table and NOT in the cats face. I had to put 2 of these on my table, one at each end to cover the whole thing. It's about $15 per 1 can of air (actually it refrigerant 134A) And an additional $15 - $20 bucks for the sensor it does become very expensive. I now have 4 sensors and 6 cans...$90 + $80 = $110.00 This will do my dining room table and just one of my counter tops. So I need to get another 4 cans of 'air' and sensors to cover my other counter and bathroom sink.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

This Device Really Works!!
This device really works!! We have a roaming neighborhood male cat who has been coming up onto our deck at night and sometimes sprays our furniture or barbecue grill (gross!). We have no way of preventing him from coming up the stairs as they are open but setting this motion-activated spray device at the top of the stairs has worked wonders in keeping him away! I set it out every evening and then bring it inside in the morning.
