new headphones with mic and sound don't work well in audio only plugs
most of my headphones are designed for use with a phone and therefore have the 4 contacts on the plug. I was having problems with poor audio sounds from the jack I use to listen to the TV while working out. This fixed the problem and now I can use my favorite headphones.
