Given all the butane fire starters on the market, it's difficult to find one with all the right characteristics. I wish someone had reviewed this model previously. Long 5 1/4" nozzle is great for lighting pilot lights. The trigger is easy to pull and reliable. It lights every time. Refillable, though I did not try refilling it. There is no child safety lock, so easy to use (if you don't need a safety lock). Size adjuster for flame also works well-- max flame is about 1 1/4", minimum is about 5/8". Perfect.

The shape of the body/fuel tank needs a remake. It feels and is very awkward in my hand; when held in a "comfortable" position, the butt of the fuel tank is in the middle of the palm of my hand, my trigger finger is outside of the trigger guard and my thumb is resting on the red ring in front of the trigger guard. The safety is VERY stiff and the very slippery material that the body is made of makes them even more awkward to use. Quite frankly, if I hadn't read a review stating that there was no child safety switch, I would not have bought them. All things considered, while these lighters do function. I would have rather spent the $6.75 on the $1 disposable lighters that can be found at Target ... I'm just glad that I don't have to use them more often than I do. So, to wrap things up: I do not recommend them due to due to poor design/bad hand-fit and difficulty in making them light. Good value? You get what you pay for, and I would have paid twice the money for a more comfortable, easier to use lighter. Good quality? They are functional, although people with lesser hand strength (I recently found out that I have the grip strength of a 20-year-old male) could find these impossible to light. I destroyed one trying to defeat the child lock and ended up throwing it in the trash; the surviving lighters will be relegated to "emergency use only" and disposable King Utility Lighters, available at Walmart for $1 will be my go-to fire source from now on.Read full review

Although I have not had to fill any I bought, all the ones I have used worked well! I keep one outside by the grill and others in the house for emergency candles. I would recommend to others to give them a shot! Dags1965

The first one worked really well, for two uses. It is full of butane and it sparks properly, but that's it. Perhaps, it's an anomaly, but it raises the cost by one third of the others. That is if they both work well. You do seem to get what you pay for...
