Deep Purple with David Coverdale.A great classic record. Good song writing, good tones and stellar vocals from a 22 year old unknown. Also appearing for the first time is Glen Hughes on bass. Ritchie Blackmore the well known jerk, threw out their distinctive ,even signature singer Ian Gillan and bassist Roger Glover. Both would return. A recipe for disaster ,this actually worked for this record. The next record Stormbringer was not near as good as this. David seems hungry and young and very good. The songs are well written and really rock. This is a truly great album and a must have. But, you knew that already didn't you?
If you are a musician or just a connoisseur of melodic yet complex writing, this album serves up a brilliant spectrum of high energy dynamic rock and blues. No slouch musicians in this line up. This is a great CD for road trips or just firing up the home stereo system and losing yourself in this great musical effort.
