Robin Williams is one of the most brillant comic talents on the planet. Barry Sonnenfield is a good director with a few hits (Men In Black) and a few failures (Wild Wild West). However paired together in RV, this is a match made is cinematic hell Williams can make a bad film (Father's Day, Popeye) better, he can scare you (one Hour Photo, Insomina) and can make a great film (Mrs Doubtfire, Good Morning Vietnam)into a comedy classic. Here he has so very little to do ...a few pieces of slapstick business and a lot of deadpanning for the camera, he could have phoned in this film role. And if you have a great comedy talent (like williams) doing NOTHING, the rest of the cast must be either coasting or overworking. ITS COASTING HERE! I love the talents of Jeff Daniels, Cheryl Hines and Kristen Chenoweth, but in this vehicle they are wasted Very little of RV is funny..sorry to say with the talent in front and behind the camera involved, you could have made a funny film..and all we get in MUD in our collected faces from the roadRead full review
The executive Bob Munro is stressed, feeling threatened of losing his job and his lifestyle, since his abusive boss Todd Mallory hired the Stanford's geek Laird to work in their soda's company. Bob has promised his wife Jamie Munro, his teenage daughter Cassie Munro and his young son Carl Munro to spend vacations in Hawaii, but Todd demands him to prepare a presentation and attend a business meeting with the owners of a family company in a merging operation scheduled in the same period. Bob hides the truth to his family, rents a recreational vehicle and tries to convince his dysfunctional family that a road trip to the Colorado Rocky Mountains would be good to bring old values back to their family. After many incidents and while in the trailers parking area, the rookie Bob is helped by the bizarre but friendly Gornicke family. They escape from the Gornickes and initiate a journey of difficulties and leaning, retrieving their forgotten family bonds. "RV" is a movie where you should be able to have a few hard laughs and be able to smile the entire time.Read full review
The storyline revolves around a father who takes his family on vacation in an RV with his hidden agenda driving there to go to a business meeting. Along the way the usual ironic and bad luck things happen to the family and along the way the learn to appreciate each other and the father learns a valuable lesson in business as well. Robin Williams doesn't get too annoying as he tends to do in some of his movies ad even though I thought I would hate JoJo as the daughter she actually did a pretty good job. Most of the physical comedy is pretty easy to predict but if you have seen and enjoyed National Lampoons Family Vacation I don't think this falls to far from the boat. The movie is much more oriented towards children than NLFV was, and I loved the Homeschooled Redneck RV Family who's story intertwines with the others. Anyways, I hope this helped, Aloha, Trent McKellRead full review
This movie is a great family movie for all ages. My ratings on this family movie are Excellant. Robin Williams plays an overworked Father trying to keep everything under control with his outrageous family. This movie is one I believe every faily can relate to in one way or another. The Munro family was really looking forward to a vacation in Hawaii, when Dad Munro's boss says he must attend a meeting in Colorado or lose his job. So he drags his reluctant family on a RV road trip that will keep you laughing all the way throughout this family adventure. It's obvious that It's going to be a bumby and Hilarious ride. Jeff Daniel's also staring in this movie plays an great role with Robin Williams trying to befriend his family in a weird kind of annoying way. This movie also stars Cheryl Hines, Kristin Chenoweth and Joanna "JoJo" Levesque in this hilarious comedy adventure. I give this movie 2 thumbs up. This movie also comes with tons of extra features, as well as English 5.1 Dolby diital and French 5.1 Doby Digital options.Read full review
I knew the first time I saw this movie that it was a must buy for me. It makes me laugh each time I watch. Robin is at his best ineptly manuvering an RV rig to a business meeting location (his family thinks this is their vacation and have no clue Robin's job is on the line.) On the way they meet an improbable, loveable, corny, yet totally talented family led by Kristen Chenowich of "Wicked, the Musical" fame. All the actors are true to character and play their roles to the hilt. It is a movie the whole family can and will enjoy. If you're a person who laughs at life's simple pleasures and mishaps, you might enjoy it as much as I.
