Great movie about the beginning of the Space Program and the pilots who would become known as astronauts and starts in 1949 with the breaking of the sound barrier by Chuck Yeager played by Sam Shepard. As such movies go there are some parts in which the film makers took a bit of creative license, however for the most part historically accurate to the events that were publicly known to have happened. This movie has some tremendous acting talent and is very well done with some archival footage in the right places to help it along, also has a nice but light touch of humor to help you through it. Which is good because it’s a very long film with a running time of 193 min./3 hours and 13 min. This is a movie to watch in parts or be prepared to commit to an entire afternoon or evening to watch it. But if you'd like to watch a film about the where it all began (the space race & NASA) then this is a great film to watch. The list of acting talent to go with it is appropriately out of this world and even includes a cameo from the real Chuck Yeager as Fred, the bartender at Pancho's So I give this one 4 out of five stars not because its not an Outstanding movie but simply because it's so long and it does seem to drag a bit in some places.Read full review
