    Pulsar 4500/3700w inverter generator

I had been dealing with two 2000w inverters with a parallel kit for a while and was tired of the hassle. I had been looking at 3500w and above inverters for some time but didn’t want to have to sell one of my kidneys for a red or blue one and was underwhelmed by the apparent quality or lack thereof, of most of the affordable offerings. I am very impressed with this Pulsar generator. Very well packaged with everything you need to operate it. Put the oil in (included) , gas and it fired right up off the electric start without even charging the battery prior. I followed a proper break-in procedure and the unit has now been under a 3300w load for a few hours without a hiccup. The noise level is very good for a bigger generator. Coming in at 71db at 20’ at almost full load. This is 5db quieter than my 2000w inverter with a 1500w load! The form factor is also great; compact and elegant with a retractable handle and decent wheels. The only negative thing I have to say about this gen set is the oil drainage arrangement is , let’s not mince words here, stupid. Plug is on the side of the crankcase and they expect you to empty it in the bottom tray of the unit to flow through a hole in the tray. Really guys? So my advice is to use a vacuum pump through the diptick hole. That’s what I did for the break-in three oil changes. My other little gripe, although minor, is the omission of an hour meter on the unit. It would have been nice. So Pulsar, some kind of duct to evacuate the used oil without messind the whole bottom tray of the unit and an hour meter for the next model revision please. That would make this generator truly outstanding. I still think this gen set is unbeatable for the price.

The Jury Is Still Out on Pulsar 4500 generator

I have mixed opinions with the Pulsar Generator. Upon the first start it idled rough; I remembered a video indicating that a plug was disconnected, by accident , at the factory. Why didn't Pulsar fix the problem or notify their dealers. Only because I saw the video did I remove the cover and see a disconnected plug. I will say that it performed well powering my RV over the weekend and the I like the convenience with the key fob. I'm still concerned with some irregular idling on day 3 of my trip. I want to love the Pulsar: 4500 vs 3500watt HF generator, 100to$200 less and a remote start key fob! The Jury Is Still Out on my purchase???

  • Good generator, BUT

New gen looks great but when I put 2 gallons of gas in it next thing I see is a growing puddle of gasoline on the ground. After taking various plastic panels off I found the fuel from the tank was completely disconnected. After that repair and several hours for the gas inside the case to evaporate I try to start it. Battery hooked, on switch lit up but nothing on the starter button. Pull start it, starts right up but can tell the choke is full on and not going off so it runs ragged. More taking plastic panels off and traced red wire from starter button through the wiring harness to a plug with several wires on it disconnected nowhere near where I reconnected the fuel line. Finally started up and ran very well, surprisingly quieter than my previous Champion 3100. Runs my 15k rv a/c very easily although it struggles a moment when the compressor kicks in will probably get an Easy start kit for the a/c. If it was a local purchase I would have returned it but since it was an internet buy I didn’t want that hassle unless it was necessary. It really is a nice gen set but the headaches took a little of the shine off. Hope this helps

  • Excellent generator, but...

When I hit the generator the main harness and the choke harness was disconnected. So I had to take off all of the covers and fish out all of the disconnected wires and reconnect them Aside from that major I inconvenience that others seemed to experience, the unit is excellent runs amazing and is super quite. I’d give it 5 stars if the companies quality control was better All in all worth it for me and at that price you really can’t complain

  • Not good

Out of the box I put the necessary oil in it and fuel. Went to start it with the push button and nothing. Did not start with the remote either. I manually started it and it ran terrible. After watching a YouTube video, found out the auto choke connector was undone and after plugging it in it ran well. Then going to turn it off I had to turn the fuel off and let it run out of gas in the carb. Come to find out there are numerous unplugged connectors going to the front plate and some have no place to connect to. Terrible harnessing at the factory and even worse quality control. Customer service will send me a new unit. We'll see how this new one works out. Not worth the time. Use a different company.

  • My pulsar 4500/3700

The unit itself is pretty awesome in itself. The draw back is when I received it, which came on the date they said and fairly fast. I opened the box it looked grate I charged the internal battery an pushed the Start button and nothing. I’m pretty handy so I took the covers off, got my meter and started to troubleshoot the generator. I found four plugs not connected,2 went to the control board and 2 I guess are for additional options. Plugged them in and still nothing. Then I found a voltage regulator or whatever it is. It is cracked because I lose my connection in till I push in on the red wires and then it starts right up with the fob the start button or the pull cord. I need a new one to repair my unit right. I shouldn’t have to do all of this it should have been checked and tested before it leaves your warehouse.

  • Mabey the Manufacturer should add a voltage relay that only applies the load when the generator reaches 117 vac.

It doe's take two tries to get it started but once going runs very well and quiet. Most people would buy this for their camping trailer with the wireless start key fob, so you could start it and stop from the inside. I was surprised to find you have to unplug it before you start and before you stop it, so what's the use of the key fob if you have to get in and out of the trailer anyway?

  • Not impressed

I received the inverter and unboxed it, upon removing it from the box I noticed a film of green oil on the bottom of the inverter frame, not sure where the oil came from as the engine was empty. I read the owners manual, added the provided oil, pushed the battery switch to the on position and pushed the economy mode button to on and tried to start the inverter, nothing happened when I pushed the start button. I then pulled the side panel off and checked the battery, all 4 lights were green indicating a charged battery. I kept pushing the start button and still nothing. I decided to start the inverter with the rope pull start, the inverter did start on the first pull, but it acts like it is choked and the choke won’t turn off, it is running super rich. The elevation I live at is approximately 5500 feet and according to the owners manual it needs to be tuned for any elevation above 5000 but it is running much richer than any 4 stroke engines that I have, that’s why I think the choke is hung open. I also checked the air filter to make sure there was one in it and that it didn’t have some kind of plastic wrapping on it, while I was checking it I noticed the opposite side oil plug was not in the unit but there was some kind of plug that can’t be removed( it looks like the plug was twisted off in the port). No matter how long I ran it the start button still will not work. I’m not too happy with the quality of this inverter.

  • Quiet!!!!

Very impressed so far. Advertised as 64 dB, and it is truly the quietest generator I’ve owned. Using this to go camping. Was considering a popular brand name generator, but could not ignore the appeal of the pricing on this. Time will tell, but so far truly impressed.

  • Yes, get one!

Never had one before but feel l will need one this winter. l live in the mtns. and loose electricity a lot. The price was so low for the power and ease of use, l couldn't pass this up. Make sure you check it against ones you've been looking at! Instructions easy to understand. Only set up is to add the oil shipped with it and add gasoline. l got the remote start, so no work needed there. Highly recommend this must have! Price was so affordable to!
