This newer edition is a small hardback book. More colorful than original edition. Our long time retired minister used it during his active ministry to help a child cope with death of a loved one. I feel it gives some comfort and understanding to a young child. In the back of the book, there are some additional details about the story.

I bought this book because it was recommended to me. This book is a doorway to discuss death with children. I believe that the life cycle of the water bug to a dragonfly is an excellent visual to explain that a loved one has left this world, changed and can't return. Some of the lines in the book I disliked and would skip with my children but overall I would recommend this book. It is a very neat concept.
I am a paster and have used this short book both for children's sermons on Sundays and at funerals where children are present. This helps to explain, in very understandable terms, the concept of death and heaven. The illustrations are well done and enjoyed by the children as well. Of course, as is often the case, the adults seem to enjoy hearing this children's sermon as well! I highly recommend this book. I also recommend buying more than one copy so you have an extra to loan out... which is the reason I am purchasing an extra today! Rev. My husband passed away 3 years ago and my twin 5 year old granddaughters have been asking many questions about his death and when can he come home, etc.. I purchased this book looking for ways to explain our loss to them. It was helpful, but deals with just a couple issues in a very simplistic way. Maybe better suited to chldren even under 5.
Great book for young kids who have had the death of a loved one
