For the normal deer hunter that may want to hunt varmints too - this is a good choice.
YOU MIGHT HAVE BETTER VISION to start with so this is not a pooh pooh or a dig at all on the product. These are NOT bad, just not superior like another $500 + invested in glass. You aren't going to get Swarovski performance out of this model - they may have a model that does however.
I will preface this review with the fact that I wear contacts and glasses that have progressive bi focals.
I used this with contacts - so my review is purley subjective to my eyes and yours might get better results. I wore contacts for this test.
You can't see as good with contacts on as you do glasses so I ask myself what am I most likely to be wearing when I shoot.
Overall I'd give this one 3.6 to 3.8. out 5.
I really like the lighted reticle in red or green.
I think the paralax adjustment is where my eyes reach the limits of the glass.
On Max zoom it is not as clear as I wanted it to be for 500 bucks. I focused on a electrical breaker box across the street at about 60 yeards. I able to read the warning on the box. I could read both with the Cabelas SFP and this one as a FFP. The letters where a scooch blurry , legible but not crystal sharp.
I am considering returning it and buying a Vortex. I pulled out my 2-10 Leupold and at the same power the Leopold is just so much better and it is a old one Vari X II =This one is okay- It is clear to a point I wish I could go try these out before I buy one - maybe I will return it and put another 500 and get something better.,
I have a Cabela's single focal plane - this one is a first focal plane and at max power the Cabela's is just a tad better
