I got the book used for a bargain rate, was rather optimistic after all it was the American Heart Association. The book is terrible. The recipes provided are severely outdated (think 70's and early 80's) and for the most part just sound disgusting. It also comes across more like a self help book with a condescending tone, vs an actual cookbook.. Definitely don't buy it because you will be seriously disappointed

I love the content of the book. I like the extra information that is contained in the book. The recipes are easy to follow. I decided to buy it because I wanted to obtain recipes that were lower in salt content because I am trying to look out for the health of my husband and myself.
All books were new! My son in law had a heart attack and quadruple bypass surgery at 51. This was my gift to him. He ate pretty healthy before but I thought he could use these as a guide.
