  • Rediscovering the joys of Silver Age Comics!!!!

I've received both the DC Showcase issues at this writing, and have received books 1 & 2 in reverse order. It is great to not only read some tales I've read in reprints many years ago, but to have the complete set of original stories in two volumes. I'm aware that Doom Patrol preceded Marvels' "X-Men" by a matter of months and had a similar theme, but I found the "Silver Age" era of Doom Patrol far more interesting than that of Marvels' merry band of mutants. I'm aware that the fortunes of both Doom Patrol and X-Men have greatly changed over the decades & that X-Men went on to enjoy far more success than the Doom Patrol. Still, the DC "Silver Age/Pre-Crisis" versions of The Doom Patrol and The Challengers Of The Unknown (precursors of Marvels' "Fantastic Four") are my favorite incarnations of these characters and stories. I can relive these via the DC Showcase trade paperbacks to my hearts' content.

  • Doom Patrol - A DC Classic

Showcase Presents: Doom Patrol, Vol. 1. - A black and white reprint of the early comic books. One of DC's most unusual group of super heroes. Enjoyed the teams adventures as a child and wanted to revisit the Patrol's contributions to the DC Universe.
