Former Acid Bath, Agents Of Oblivion, and Deadboy & The Elephantmen frontman Dax Riggs' debut solo album is a f-in masterpiece. This album captures the best elements from all his former bands and even brings something unique unto itself to the table. Dax's haunting and soulful voice with his eclectic and intelligent lyrics are better than ever. Sometimes heavy, sometimes bluesy, sometimes punk, and even sometimes church-choir like (organ on The Terrors Of Nightlife), this album has it all, but everything fits together perfectly. If you are a fan of any of Dax's other bands then YOU MUST BUY THIS TODAY! I haven't taken it out of my CD player since I bought it and I haven't done that with any album in a long, long, time. Sure to be an underground classic, but is more than worthy of critical acclaim and commercial success. Sadly, the masses will probably never hear this album (I didn't even know about it's release until 3 weeks ago), but the masses are dumbasses and wouldn't get it anyway. Then again, I'm sure this album wasn't intended for the masses. It was intended for true fans of metal and fans with more discriminating tastes, rather than the garbage that has been force-fed to the public since the end of the 90s. But even someone with no clue as to who Dax is will like this album, it is that good. Go buy it and find out for yourself. We Sing Of Only Blood Or Love is hopefully just the beginning of Dax's return to greatness.Read full review
I had never heard or heard of this band before. One of my friends recommended it to me the other day. I received the cd in the mail in only two days and immediately ripped the plastic off of it like a child on christmas day. I immediately noticed that they are on FAT POSSUM RECORDS, one of my favorite labels, producing Mississippi River Delta blues bands like R.L. Burnside, and T Model Ford, and the Black Keys. Immediately, i knew that i had something good. I put it into the cd/sacd player and hit play. At first, I did not know what to think, and then realized that this band is AWESOME! They are soo eclectic. There is really no way to describe them. A mix between Zepplin, Johnny Cash, and the Misfits. I dont know if that helps much but, hey, I tried. All i know is that i wish this cd was longer than 35 minutes. I hope that this band stays together, and as long as they do, I will buy their albums. This is how hard this band has struck me. Going from totally ignorant into their biggets fan in t minus two. -Chef Luis PerniaRead full review
dax is a natural music-maker and seems to always be a step ahead of his time. i think he could probably excel making any kind of music there is. he makes music that you can feel, and this c.d. does not disappoint. it's awesome. but nothing will ever compare to acid bath, for me.
KICK FUCKIN ASS cd i love dax riggs hes got an amazing voice and great lyrics. i would totally recomend you to try it
Really great! If you like Dax's other music you will like this! Some softer, yet still dark songs, beautiful!
