For most dogs this is a great treat and great value
I have ordered this product several times for my three dogs and they have loved it and have had hours of good chews. However, this time I had a bad problem and I can't fault the product. It was my fault and I should have known better. I have a two year old Cavalier king charles spaniel , butpoorly bred) who swallows large objects whole. I usually watch him closely, but I had left the room for about 2 minutes and when I came back in, he was flat on the floor and not breathing. I lifted him up and hit him on the back several times and then did the Heimlick several times, the last time I thrusted so hard I feared I may have cracked his ribs, but the piece came flying out and he gasped for air. Boy he was pissed at me because I was hitting him and he didn't know why. The piece he tried to shallow was about 1 1/2" in width and 2" in length. We came so close to losing him. We have soaked them before to make them softer and easier to chew, but he will swallow a wad. Know your dog. If your dog is like mine, avoid this product. I was hoping this product would be a good value but alas just another like all the rest. Small , thinner bully sticks that my dog can finish in a few hours. I’ve read other reviews and thought my dog is different or their dog must be a really aggressive chewer. Nope, it’s the bully sticks people. Previously, I would buy bully sticks that would last my dog a week of chewing- no more, they just aren’t aren’t there anymore. It's great to have a large supply of chew sticks for my new puppy who is definitely in a teething/chewing phase. They are smelly: she loves them, I think the smell is gross. That's one of the cons. The other con is the price is quite high for my pocketbook. On the other hand, if you survey the prices on other chew items the price is quite reasonable.
