I love knives. My problem was whenever I bought a nice new knife I ruined it by using it. I didn't learn how to sharpen my own knives until last year and I can do a pretty good job if I say so myself. However, the best I do pales in comparason to the Havalon knives. If you buy one beware they are razor sharp, the sharpest knife I have ever used. They have improved in that the new model provides a tool to assist when changing blades. I had my first Havalon for three years, using it to prepare six deer for the butcher and then lost it. I never had to change the blade so they aren't junk blades. They are an excellent value. I have sharpened all my older knives and use them when I want to admire them. lol

No problems with blade retention. Easy to clean. As others have said, very sharp, any contact with your finger will result in a cut. Light but you need some sort of needle nose pliers to safely change blades. Add in that weight and you are back up to a conventional knife. Real selling point is convenience.

The knife is great but had to make a modification to the inside of one of the scales as the tab/arm holding the blade was dragging the side coming out. I just used a dremel to relieve a little of scale so the blade arm would come out without dragging. Easy fix
