I had reviewed, tested and compared the Daiwa Saltist 3000 to other similarly priced reels at a retail sporting shop prior to ordering it from EBay, so I had a good idea of the quality this reel contains. However, as the saying goes, the proof is in the pudding, so I put this reel to the test here in Southeast Florida. I've paired it with a 7'-6" medium rod with a fast tip, and it is a perfect fit. I have already caught Spanish Mackerel, Pompano and Bluefish with this set up, and the reel has definitely lived up to its reputation. It has strong cranking power, a very smooth drag, and it is easily one the smoothest operating spinning reels I have ever owned. I feel very confident that this reel will hold its quality for a few years, and the MagSeal protection will ensure I won't have to worry about saltwater splashing or sand intrusion. Bottom line, this is one of the best saltwater-rated spinning reels in the market for the money. I highly recommend it. I will be purchasing a 4000 series version of this reel within the next month.Read full review

Used while fishing for reds and sheep head in La. Worked great, cas great, smooth on the retrieval with good line lay. Only issue Diawa hasn't released the oil reguired to service the reel yourself. Great little reel.

Great for inshore salt or fresh water. Paired up with a medium action 7' rod, it will make a great addition to my fishing gear. I look forward to putting it to the test on the water.

It's a great reel, no doubt, but pricey. This is a dressed up, premium version of the Daiwa B&G, and it is excellent. The only reason for only four stars is that it's over-priced in comparison to the Daiwa B&G, with which shares 95% of the same parts. The addition of an extra bearing and Mag Sealed bearings don't really justify the price increase. By all accounts, it is a rugged reel and it should be extra corrosion free (with minimal maintenance). I haven't had mine very long at all, so we'll see. Certainly, it is one of the smoothest reels I have ever used, and seems very strong. The engineering that went into this is impressive. Bottom line, don't pay full price for this one. Wait for a sale, or simply buy the B&G in the same size. It's essentially the same reel for about 65% of the cost.Read full review

The 3000 Saltist feels great in your hand. The line capacity is amazing for a small reel. We own two 6500 Saltist, I highly recommend these reels. Reel shipped fast, packaged very well.
