I had used the Braun series 7 shaver for about a year and half with fair results. After reading several professional reviews which really didn't recommend the series 9 over the series 7 mostly because of its high price I decided to give it a try anyway especially since I wasn't all that happy with results of the series 7 model. I never felt I got a close shave even after going over and over my beard with a brand new cutter foil. The difference with the series 9 is amazing. My skin is much smoother after shaving than before. I got the model that uses the cleaning station and it works great. I don't run it through the cleaning cycle but every third shave. It comes out looking like a brand new shaver. Even just rinsing under the faucet and removing the foil and rinsing it separately it comes very clean. My series 7 after a rinsing and removing the foil left the main body with hair residue that had to be brushed away. I also like that I don't have to plug a cord in to charge as the cleaning station takes care of that. So far I am very happy with the series 9.Read full review

I expected a much closer shave from a two hundred dollar shaver. I have an old Norelco that costs about forty bucks that comes close to this in terms of shaving closeness. The self cleaning feature is cool though and saves time. The unit didn't come with a manual or packaging and is supposed to be new and unused. Maybe with a new set of blades I'll get a better shave. I must say I expected more from an expensive shaver. At this point I wouldn't recommend it.

The Braun 9 shaver, based on my personal experience with a number of other electric shavers, gives the closest shave of any I have ever owned. The twin foiled heads have the least friction of any shaver I have ever used, and seem to roll gently over every contour of the face. The pop-up trimmer is helpful for sideburns. The rechargeable internal batteries require infrequent charging, and the cleaning-sanitizing-charging stand ensures that the heads are clean and the batteries charged between shaves. In sum, the Braun 9 is worth its price in my judgment.

Got this for my husband as a surprise and he loves it. The item was listed as new, but I don't believe that. No paperwork. We also learned AFTER the purchase that the cleaning station wasn't included, leaving him to clean it like he does his $50 razor. :-( It definitely was something we needed to know before the purchase - not after I'd bought it for him. Way too expensive to not have the cleaning station. Hate rating it down, but can't really rate it without all the components. And it couldn't have been NEW without having everything included.

Most reviewers mention the the jump in price from the Series 7 to the Series 9 and the less than justifiable increase in shave comfort and product quality. No question the Series 7 has the quality "feel" that the 9 lacks. There's more plastic on the 9, down from the cartridge to shaving unit while the 7 has more metal parts and feels more substantial in your hands. The Series 7 offers an excellent, comfortable and close shave and the Series 9 does this too; maybe 5% better. I had the Series 7 for a year, while tossing around with the idea of buying the 9. After I dropped the 7 on the porcelain part of the toilet, a piece broke off giving me an excuse to buy the Series 9. The 7 still works great but that 5% difference in the shaving comfort had kept me using the Series 7 on a daily basis.
