  • It is what it is...

It's a genuine OEM replacement part but... If you've been "in there" you'll wish they had made it out of stainless... But since it functions not only as a nut but also mounts and centers the inner basket I guess it needs to have a little give... If you are replacing this you should replace the flat washer, split washer & seal (which is probably what you are trying to fix in the first place)... You will need that 1-11/16 spanner wrench (forget the OEM $50 one, ebay for $10 delivered)... Even with the wrench I could not get the nut off so I had to cut it off with a dremel (hint: the shaft has 4 non-threaded flat spots - cut the nut on 2 of those spots so you are less likely to damage and redress the threads... Once you get the nut off you're home free right..?!?! Nope, the inner basket is corroded in place as well... Treat with penetrating oil or similar and start carefully digging around the shaft with a pick, tapping and scraping your way down... I had to let mine soak over night... I finally broke it free not bu pulling up but by pushing down on one side... Once you get there you're good to go... Clean the hub and shaft up good with solvents and wire brushes (on drills)... Put a few drops of oil down the shaft while your there to lubricate that bearing since it probably got wet from the leaky seal you're fixing... A simple job really except for all the corrosion if you have aggressive water... Good luck, take your time - it's about a 10 swear job ;-) You can do it...

OEM product at a low price, fits my Hotpoint clothes washer. Was easy to screw on the shift mode assembly and easy to tighten.
