A proper tool for lacing and adjusting high quality bicycle wheels
Straight-pull spokes have less need for this tool but far more common J-bend spokes do. Lacing new, lubricated spokes need this tool to spare the J-bend from being twisted, and old, used, rusted and corroded spokes need this tool even more and for the same reason. This tool eliminates the torsional springiness of spokes by grabbing the spoke close to where the spoke wrench twists the nipple, considerably improving the accuracy of tension adjustment, and has smooth jaws that work in parallel motion, unlike ordinary pliers, to grab the spoke without causing any damage to the spoke.
