Notes'The album sounds quite lovely - great job.' - Laurence Juber (2X GRAMMY winner, Acoustic Guitar Fingerstylist of the Year) 'Holy Minefield... that was just smokin' great!' - Phil Solem (The Rembrandts) 'Intimate Encounter' is an all acoustic instrumental effort from these stylistically different, yet singularly like minded musicians. Christopher Burgan brings a guitar playing style that blends the acoustic hybrid percussive nature of artists like Michael Hedges and Kaki King with the melodic voicing of rock guitarists like Alex Lifeson and Jimmy Page. Jimmy Dunn comes from a completely different place. After cutting his teeth on early Elton John and Bruce Hornsby he progressed to become a first call jazz pianist in the vein of George Winston and Bob James. Combine that divergent guitar / piano mix with Jimmy's wife Robin Dunn on classical cello, whose playing is reminiscent of the modern cello master Natalie Haas, and the world music percussion sounds of Shane Schupbach, on hand drums and soundscape texture makers, and you have a surprisingly cohesive set of recordings that is both complicated and listenable. The recordings sound great weather you are relaxing with it in the background, or studying music composition in an academic setting. Either way, it is sure to please the discerning acoustic music enthusiast.
